In 1990, The Men in Black was first published. The first volume contained three issues and was published by Aircel Comics. The next year, another volume was released, but due to financial issues, the comics were published by Aircel, but released by Malibu Comics. No new comics were released in the following years, and Malibu was bought out by Marvel Comics. After the release of the first film, Marvel released four one-shots that tie in with the film. Story[]

The comics followed the story of Kay, Jay, and Zed. They are all workers of the MiB. They stop people from witnessing any form of paranormal activity, not just aliens. They even go and kill witnesses who see what should not be seen. Another part of the story is trying to track down Ecks, who went rogue on learning that they seek to manipulate and reshape the world in their own image by keeping the supernatural hidden. However, the Marvel comics followed the story of the film, which is different from the comics.
